Pop-up shop secured by Hailsham Chamber of Commerce

Hailsham & District Chamber of Commerce have secured funding through the Wealden Strategic Partnership – Strong Resilient Communities Fund for a Pop up Shop in Hailsham High Street as part of a project to help small business owners, trial a high street presence in a low cost, low risk environment.

The Hailsham Chamber are pleased to announce that a lease has been secured on No 41 High Street Hailsham and after some initial works it is intended that the shop will be open for a period of around 12 months (March 2017 – April 2018) enabling traders to use it for a minimum of one week and a maximum of two weeks at a discounted price..

The Unit is fitted out with a counter and some shelving units. There is also a toilet and hand basin at the back of the shop. Tenants are not permitted to put up anything other than temporary signs at the property unless previously approved by the Landlord and shall be required to remove all furniture and other items belonging to them and clear away all rubbish from the property.

Tenancy Requirements

The tenant will be required to sign a short term tenancy agreement i.e. a week or two weeks depending on the agreement which will be signed at Ross & Co, 30 High Street, Hailsham, BN27 1BB.

The rent is £100 per week (inclusive of utilities). The Tenant will be required to pay the rent in advance on the date of signing the tenancy agreement and in the event that they vacate the property early, they will not be entitled to any refund.

Property Use

The permitted use is as a retail shop within Use Class A1. The tenant is not permitted to make any alteration to addition to the property or put up anything other than temporary signs. 

Permitted Opening Hours

Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5:30pm. The Unit will be let on a Monday to Saturday tenancy.

Signing of Tenancy Agreement and Collection/Dropping of Keys

Once an application form has been agreed by Hailsham Chamber the tenant can sign the tenancy agreement which is held at Ross & Co, 30 High Street, Hailsham, BN27 1BB.

It is preferred that the tenancy agreement be signed on a Friday and can be signed and agreed any Friday before the tenancy commences. The tenancy agreements are dealt with by Jackie Neen (Commercial Team). Jackie Neen will pass over the keys only on the Friday before the tenancy commences once the tenancy has been signed and agreed.

Once the tenancy has elapsed on the Saturday the keys must be dropped over to Ross & Co, 30 High Street, Hailsham, or posted through Ross & Co’s letterbox late Saturday or Sunday morning.

Failure to return the keys could result in a small penalty.

The tenant is responsible for locking up the unit each night and keeping the keys in a safe place.
