Sixth Form student wins National Competition
We are delighted to inform you that one of our 6th Formers Sophie McEwen, recently entered a National Competition in Birmingham where she showcased a Science Project. Her work was up against 200 other projects, and impressively Sophie won 2nd Prize for the ‘Young Water Dragon Prize’ which was sponsored by the Future Water Association.
Sophie is now required to compete for the UK Junior Water Prize in May, up at the University of Cranfield in Bedfordshire. If successful, she will be given the opportunity to show case her work in Stockholm alongside 32 other countries. The prize includes a Gala Dinner, a $5000 grant to the College, and a $15,000 grant to the winner!
I am supporting her in her effort to raise funds towards this, namely for things like accommodation and travel, but she also needs professional posters and 2 roll-up banners which will help to display her work. We estimate the cost to be £750.
If you would be able to sponsor Sophie’s venture in any way, we would love to hear from you. You can contact me directly via ChamberlainN@hccat.net, or alternatively email Sophie for more information via 10McewenS@hccat.net.
